Safety Tip: Injuries from Stall Doors & Gates
Horses love to grab things in their mouths. However, such behavior can lead to fractured jaws, torn lips and eyelids, lacerated skin, etc. (we have seen all of these in our practice). To prevent injury, do not leave tack, loose hardware, carrot bags, halters, etc. on stall doors or pasture gates. Horses who reach for these items can get their lower jaw or tongue caught with disastrous results.
