Stem Cell Technology

You are probably wondering what stem cell technology can do for your horse. Vet-Stem technology is designed to regenerate injured tendons and ligaments that in the past would not heal properly resulting in poor performance or lack of function. We have developed stem cell therapy for horse tendon and ligament injuries due to the catastrophic impact that many of these injuries have on horses. Vet-Stem provides stem cell services that take fat from your horse and deliver stem cells to us so that they can be re-implanted back into your horse.

Although stem cells are being tested for nearly every disease and injury imaginable, we only address applications that are well documented such as injured tendons, ligaments, and bone. Typical uses are a strain or tear of the suspensory ligament, a bowed tendon, or fracture repair. The majority of cases Vet-Stem has worked on have shown dramatic improvement as judged by ultrasound imaging within 45 days. During this time, the stem cells are adapting to their new environment and beginning the regeneration process. Although at this time stem cell therapy will not shorten the rehabilitation time, it will greatly improve the return to performance and in some cases, even restore complete return to the performance level before the injury occurred.
