Pregnant Mares
Don’t forget that mares in their last trimester of pregnancy need a final prenatal visit before foaling. A visit 4 to 6 weeks before foaling will include a physical, deworming, and most importantly a booster on vaccines. This will ensure that the mare has a maximum level of protective antibodies to pass on to her foal in her milk. This prenatal visit also allows us to detect any possible last-minute problems with the pregnancy, such as breech foal, and to answer and address any owner concerns over the birthing process.
